Moving from Bangalore to Kerala: Costs, Transit Time and Checklist

Thousands of families move from Bangalore back to Kerala every year, for a new job, for family, or to settle down at home. The road trip is only about a day, but a house shift needs more planning than that. This guide covers what a Bangalore to Kerala move costs, how long it takes, and what to do before and after moving day.

How much does it cost to move from Bangalore to Kerala?

The cost depends on how many items you have, the truck size, the number of workers needed and the packing materials used. These are our starting rates for a full truck load from Bangalore:

Home sizeVehicleStarting cost
1 BHKTata Ace / Dost LXRs 23,500+
2 BHKBolero Pickup / Bada DostRs 25,500+
3 BHK407 / EicherRs 35,800+

Rates include basic packing, loading and unloading, and apply to Cochin, Palakkad, Thrissur and Calicut. For other towns in Kerala, ask us for a quote. If you only have a few items, a part truck load (sharing the truck) costs less.

How long does it take?

  • Full truck load: about 1 day after pickup, because the truck goes straight to your new home.
  • Part truck load: 3 to 5 working days, because the truck carries goods for more than one customer.

If you need to move out in Bangalore before your Kerala home is ready, we have a secure warehouse in Bangalore where your household goods can be stored.

Full truck or part truck: which should you choose?

Choose a full truck if you are moving a complete home, need your things on a fixed date, or have fragile furniture that should not be moved around with other loads. Choose a part truck if you are a student or single working professional with a small number of items and your dates are flexible.

When should you book?

Book at least 3 to 5 days before your shifting date. Month-end and the weeks around school reopening and Onam are busy, so book earlier if your move falls at those times.

Checklist before you leave Bangalore

  • Inform your house owner and agree the date for returning the deposit.
  • If you live in an apartment, ask the association about lift booking and the timings when trucks are allowed.
  • Settle electricity, water and maintenance bills and take the final readings.
  • Make a list of items to sell or give away. Fewer items means a smaller truck and a lower cost.
  • Keep documents, jewellery, cash and medicines in a separate bag that travels with you, not in the truck.
  • Empty and defrost the fridge one day before loading, and dry the washing machine.

Moving your bike or car

Most families moving to Kerala also bring a two-wheeler. Before handing it over, empty most of the petrol, clean it, take photos of any existing scratches, and keep a copy of the RC and insurance. Read our guide on packing a bike for a long distance move. If you plan to stay in Kerala for a long time, check with the RTO about re-registering a Karnataka-registered vehicle.

Protecting fragile and costly items

TVs, glass tables, showcases and appliances need extra care on a long road journey. For very fragile items and machinery we can use wooden crating. All our trucks are GPS-enabled, so you can see where your goods are during the trip.

After you reach Kerala

  • Check every box against the list before the team leaves, and report any damage on the spot.
  • Update your address for Aadhaar, bank, LPG connection and insurance.
  • If you need AC fitting or furniture like cots and alamaras re-fixed, ask us while booking so the technician comes on the same day.
